IBU KOTA Opens in Canggu

IBU KOTA

An Indonesian Bar & Grill blending authentic flavors, warm hospitality, and live entertainment.

There’s a new buzz in Canggu, and it’s coming from IBU KOTA, an Indonesian Bar & Grill that brings a taste of Jakarta’s vibrant spirit to Bali. Think grilled seafood, bold local flavors, good music, and that unmistakable city energy — all wrapped in warm, genuine hospitality.

IBU KOTA

This exciting new venue is a dynamic collaboration between The Cakap Group and PT Dewata Rasa. The entire concept, design, and successful launch are driven by The Cakap Group’s Director, Peter Jozef, whose vision brought this unique dining experience to life. “We envisioned a destination where the rich flavours of heritage Indonesian cuisine can be experienced in a trendy, modern setting with world-class hospitality. That combination is Something we believe has been missing in Bali’s vibrant dining scene”

The name Ibu Kota, which translates to “Capital City,” pays homage to Jakarta — the beating heart of Indonesia. But it’s also a nod to the word Ibu (“mother”), a symbol of warmth and care. That mix of energy and comfort defines the experience at IBU KOTA,  lively, welcoming, and proudly Indonesian.

IBU KOTA

At the core of it all is the food. IBU KOTA celebrates traditional recipes and bold local flavors with a modern touch. The menu highlights include Classic Beef Rendang, slow-cooked until perfectly tender, and Bamboo Lobster with Signature Marinade, a dish that captures the richness of the archipelago in one bite. Every plate is made for sharing — vibrant, flavorful, and cooked with heart.

The bar adds another layer to the experience, with cocktails that tell a story. Signature drinks like the Waingapu Blossom take inspiration from the cherry blossoms that bloom in Sumba, pairing local ingredients with global techniques to create something uniquely Indonesian. Whether it’s a pre-dinner drink or a long night with friends, the bar at IBU KOTA keeps things fresh, creative, and fun.

There’s always something happening here. From live bands and DJs on weekends to guest chefs and Mixologists each month, IBU KOTA is designed for nights that flow easily — dinner turning into drinks, drinks turning into dancing. Weekly favorites like all-you-can-eat satay, Sunday seafood brunches, and happy hour specials keep the energy going all week long.
