Istana Taman Jepun is essentially a conservation site for Indonesian germplasm, specifically frangipani, also known as kamboja, frangipani, and plumeria. Its founder, Oka Dipa (51 years old), said there around 400 varieties of frangipani planted on this 2.5-hectare site.

Istana Taman Jepun opens from 08:00 to 22:00 WITA. Visitors come to this place for various purposes, ranging from gatherings, business meetings, weddings, birthdays, to sports.

The artificial lake is quite spacious, offering a refreshing sight. Various bird species found here, especially black swans, white swans, ducks, and various types of water birds.

The first object encountered after entering this tourist area is the statue of Charles Plumier’s head. Plumier, a French botanist, discovered the Frangipani genus called Plumeria. He conducted three botanical expeditions to the West Indies and was recognized as a botanist by King Louis XIV.

“A total of 140 varieties come from Bali, while 260 varieties come from abroad, especially Hawaii and Thailand,” he said.
