The coffee beans are basically digested by a species of cat in Indonesia called civet cat and the faeces of this animal are then separated from the beans. The beans are washed, dried, and finally roasted to produce the Kopi Luwak coffee. The coffee has a unique taste and is always in demand due to its short supply. These factors play a major role in defining the value of this coffee. While a normal brand of coffee will cost around $10 per pound, the Kopi Luwak coffee costs anywhere from $100 to $600 per pound.
