Having lived in America for 11 years, Muhamad Egar or known as Ras Muhamad began to know Reggae in 2003 before his return to Indonesia. Ras Muhamad not only learned about reggae music but also touched on the philosophy of reggae itself. According to Ras, Reggae carries a mission of peace, unity, and equality for mankind.
One of the songs that carry the mission of peace is “Salam”. The peace referred to by Ras can be heard through one of the lyrics of the song “Salam”:
Anytime you meet and greet anyone

know that Salam means ‘Peace unto you’

Must have been a guest star in various countries, Ras Muhamad continues to compose songs in Indonesian because he wants Indonesian to be recognized by many people. Through “Salam”, Ras also wants to introduce Indonesia, both its culture and philosophy to the world.
